Governing Body
Michael Carlow Jr. - Michael is the founder of Tusweca Tiospaye. He is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux (Lakota) Tribe. Michael earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and a Lakota Language Certificate from Oglala Lakota College. He is a certified teacher in the state of South Dakota K-8 and a certified Lakota language teacher K-12. He has taught Lakota Studies in the Shannon County School District for over five years. Currently Michael is a Lakota Teacher Coach for the Shannon County School District and an adjunct professor for Oglala Lakota College in the Lakota Studies Department. Michael is also currently serving his fifth term as President of the Pine Ridge Reservation Teca Wacipi Okolakiciye. He is also currently working on a Master's Degree in Education Administration from Oglala Lakota College.
Board of Directors
Walter Pourier - Walt is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux (Lakota) Tribe. He is the Creative Director of Nakota Designs, Inc. Walt is also the Creative Director of all Tusweca Tiospaye materials.
Howard Bad Milk Sr. - Howard is an enrolled member of the Rosebud Sioux (Lakota) Tribe. He is a respected elder and community leader.
George Patton - George is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux (Lakota) Tribe. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science from California State University, Northridge, and a Juris Doctorate and Indian Law Certificate from Arizona State University.
Darrell Eagle Bull - Darrell is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux (Lakota) Tribe. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Oglala Lakota College and his Master of Education Degree from Montana State University. Darrel is a certified teacher and is currently a school administrator for the Shannon County School District.
Douglas Patton Jr. - Doug is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux (Lakota) Tribe. He earned his Bachelor Degree in Lakota Studies and a Lakota Language Certificate from Oglala Lakota College.
Program Director
Stephanie Carlow - Stephanie is an enrolled member of the Oglala Sioux (Lakota) Tribe. She earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and an Associate of Arts Degree in Human Services from Oglala Lakota College. Stephanie is a certified teacher K-8 and has been a fifth grade teacher for Wolf Creek School in Pine Ridge, SD for four years. Stephanie is currently working on a Master's Degree in Education Administration at Oglala Lakota College.
